The
Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro just got official. Huawei is set to wow consumers with
not just a powerful Smartphone, but with a triple camera setup on the back of
its current flagship device. The Mate 20 Pro set itself apart from its younger
brother - the Mate 20 with higher and better camera sensors, superior display
and software capabilities. But that doesn’t mean the Mate 20 isnt a great
performer as it runs on the same 7nm chipset found on the Mate 20 Pro.
The
display on the Mate 20 Pro is a 6.39 inch curved OLED display with 1,440p resolution
and supports HDR. There is a wide notch on the display which houses the selfie
camera and 3D face scanner. Huawei took a step further by adding a pressure
sensitive in-display fingerprint reader on the Mate 20 Pro. The Mate 20 Pro is
IP68 certified and features stereo speakers.
The
Mate 20 however, gets a 1080p 6.53 inch flat LCD display without the in-display
finger print reader. Instead the fingerprint reader is placed at the back of
the device. There is a tear drop notch on the display but it lacks the 3D face
scanner. sadly the Mate 20 is not treated with IP68 and stereo speakers.
PERFORMANCE
The
Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are powered by Huawei’s latest Kirin 980 chipset. It is
the first 7nm chip for Android devices and the first to use ARM’s latest
Cortex-A76 cores. There is a 75% increase in performance and 58% improved power
efficiency over its predecessor. The Mate 20 will have 4GB or 6GB of RAM and
128GB storage options, while the Mate 20 Pro will launch with just 6GB of RAM
and 128GB of onboard storage.
Both
phones will run on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Huawei’s custom EMUI 9.0
on top of it.
CAMERA
When
it comes to the camera department, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro shines over its
younger brother – Mate 20. The Mate 20 pro maintains the triple camera setup found
on the P20 Pro; a 40MP Quad Bayer sensor with f/1.8 wide-angle lens, a 20MP
sensor with f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens and an 8MP telephoto camera sensor with
f/2.2. This time the triple camera, including the flash are arranged in a
square box at the back of the phone instead of the rectangular positioning on
the back of the P20 Pro. The selfie camera is a 24MP sensor with f/2.0 and
doubles as a 3D face scanner.
The
Mate 20 on the other hand gets the triple camera treatment but with lower mega
pixels. The main camera is a 12MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.8, a 16MP camera
with f/2.2 ultra-wide angle lens and an 8MP telephoto camera with an f/2.4. A
24MP selfie shooter is found on the front of the device but it lacks the 3D
face scanner.
The
Mate 20 Pro is packed with a 4,200mAh battery under the hood. It features the
new supercharge tech that gives u about 70% of battery juice in just half an
hour with 40W worth of power. It also features a Wireless quick charge too at
15W and wireless reverse charging- which enables you to charge other Smartphones.
The
Mate 20 on the other hand has a 4,000mAh battery and features the previous
22.5W Supercharge. Wireless charging and water proofing is not available
