Remember apple introduced IOS 12 in its big
2018 WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference) , and one of the key new features of the
updated mobile operating system is ARKit 2.
ARKit 2 is an updated version of ARKit. Apple announced the
ARkit at last year's WWDC that allows developers to create augmented reality
(AR) apps and games for the iPhone and iPad. And this year Apple decided to go
even further by introducing new features to the ARkit 2 at this year’s WWDC.
According to apple, the ARkit 2 will allow developers to integrate shared
experiences, persistent AR experiences tied to a specific location, object
detection and image tracking to make AR apps even more dynamic.
Below are some key features to expect
from Apple’s ARKit 2 coming in September.
Shared experiences: Shared experiences with ARKit 2 make AR even more engaging on iPhone and iPad, allowing multiple users to play a game or collaborate on projects like home renovations.
Persistent AR: Persistent AR will also change the way consumers
interact with AR apps by creating opportunities to leave virtual objects in the
real world to which users can return to.
Measure: Measure is a new app in iOS 12, which uses AR to quickly gauge the size
of real-world objects similar to a tape measure. The new app automatically
provides the dimensions of objects like picture frames, posters and signs, and
can also show diagonal measurements, compute area and allow users to take a
photo and share it with accurate dimensions right from their iPhone or iPad.
