Android 9.0 Pie was revealed
by Google at the beginning of the month with a bunch of new features and
polished design. Today Google introduces the Go edition of the new OS and the
improvements it would bring to mid-range and affordable smart phones in
developing markets.
According to
Google’s blog post, the Go edition of the operating system-Android 9 Pie, will
take up less space on a device, giving users up to 500MB of additional storage
out of the box compared to previous versions of Android Go.
Google also promised faster device boot times, better security
features (including verified boot), and a new dashboard for tracking and
monitoring data usage, similar to what’s already offered on the full version of
Android 9 Pie.
Smartphones with Android 9 Pie (Go edition) will be
available in stores later this fall
